The Amazon Stage offers free live music, Elvis, dance and an Isle o’ Reptiles Friday, June 20-Sunday June 22 at Asbery Field.

Thanks to Marysville entertainment organizers, this year’s free performance lineup is “all shook up”- literally! The new Amazon Stage sponsored by Amazon at Asbery Field opens Friday, June 20 with Danny Vernon’s “Illusion of Elvis” show at 7 p.m. Here is a rundown of all the on-stage entertainment!

Friday, June 20

Danny Vernon "Impression of Elvis"7-9 p.m. - Danny Vernon's "Illusion of Elvis" show

Danny Vernon's "Illusion of Elvis" show focuses on the continuation of a legend that will never be forgotten. He strives to capture the growing appeal of Elvis Presley's charisma and multi-talented musical abilities. Danny's professional experience comes from lead roles in theater, charitable events to the "Illusion of Elvis" showcase, as well as the honor of singing the National Anthem. Danny's personal interaction with the audience is genuine; from shaking hands to giving up a scarf. Chronological music, costume changes, live band, backup singers and showgirls often round out the show. He recaptures the charisma and sex appeal that shifted popular culture in a new direction.

Saturday, June 21

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Grove Groove Marimba Band

Don’t miss the Grove Groove Marimba Band when their talented young musicians from the Marysville School District fill the Amazon Stage and Asbery Field with percussive music of the Shona people in Zimbabwe. The group comprises 30 dedicated students from 5th to 7th grade, led by Erik Eliason, Grove Groove Ensemble Director and Grove Elementary Music Specialist. The group’s unique structure mirrors the intergenerational traditions of the Shona Tribes in Zimbabwe, mixing advanced middle school musicians with beginners, in a supportive environment.

2-3 p.m. - Marysville Community Band

The Strawberry Festival is proud to welcome back the Marysville Community Band, a nonprofit organization of volunteer musicians of all ages and abilities, from students to established professionals and retirees. The band performs several times a year at community events and regular concerts for the sheer joy of making music. They don’t charge admission to concerts, either. Their mission is to build community in Marysville through making music... one note at a time!

4-5 p.m. - School of Rock - Seattle

Families with children who harbor rock and roll fantasies will not want to miss School of Rock, a group young students who will perform live on stage at the Strawberry Festival. School of Rock – Seattle infuses the love of rock and roll into students of all ages through performance-based music education, with programs, camps, workshops, and live shows at local venues. Experienced instructors help bring out the talent in students while inspiring them to create, grow and explore in a fun, collaborative atmosphere.

7-9 p.m. - The Davanos

The DavanosThe Davanos were co-founded in 2003 by the incredibly talented duo of guitarist Jerry Battista and drummer Fred Holzman, while bassist Greg Youtsey completes the trifecta. Battista played guitar for the seminal Seattle band The Allies in 1982-83. The Davanos play a kick-ass combination of classic rock, blues, country western along with some of their own originals. Battista, Holzman and Youtsey are all exceptional vocalists and share both lead and backing vocals. Featuring incredible harmonies and outstanding musicianship, The Davanos can always be counted on to put on a highly entertaining show whether you come to dance or just watch and listen. Voted "Seattle’s Best Rock Band in 2018" by the Seattle Weekly, The Davanos are one of the most talented and entertaining bands on the Seattle live music scene today!

Sunday, June 22

10 a.m.-noon - Voices of the Village

Village Community Services’ Voices of the Village is an interactive ensemble in Arlington that plays hits from the ‘60s through present day. The band is led by Jon Dalgarn, a professional musician, and they have graced the Marysville festival often over the years. People of all musical abilities are welcome to participate using percussive instruments supplied by the band. Voices of the Village always ensures a fun and interactive experience.

2 shows at 1 and 3 p.m. - Reptile Isle

Don Riggs is a zoologist and has worked with exotic animals for over 18 years. He's appeared and been featured in several television shows: Animal Planet, Evening Magazine, and Bill Nye. Reptile Isle offers a forum for people of all ages to interact with animals and dispel myths and misunderstandings through hands-on education. Programs are about an hour in length and cover a broad spectrum of reptiles. Reptile Isle currently houses the largest tortoise in the Northwest and the only two-tailed monitor in captivity, along with many of the rarest animals in the world! The excitement is palpable when the reptile-lover pulls out his pets from the boxes lining the stage. From Chiquita, an albino Burmese python stretching 12 feet, to Snappy, an alligator snapping turtle and rare Parson’s chameleons, Riggs takes the opportunity to provide the kids the basics on the species of animal, which also includes a juvenile North America alligator and the largest species of gecko for an interactive show. Riggs said there is no better way to appreciate certain reptiles than to put your hands on it.
